MMS (an acronym which stands for Master Mineral Solution) is made by mixing a solution containing sodium chlorite with a weak acid.  This forms an aqueous solution of chlorine dioxide gas (pictured).  This solution has long been used as a water purification agent and also as an antimicrobial agent in the food industry.

The efficacy of MMS as a treatment for malaria was discovered serendipitously by inventor Jim Humble while he was working in the Amazon rainforest.

Malaria remains a major cause of illness in death in many parts of the world with WHO estimating that in 2013 there were approximately 200 million cases of malaria and about 584,000 fatalities.

Naturally, having discovered a simple, effective and low cost treatment for malaria, Jim Humble first tried to alert the usual authorities to his discovery.  He found that they were largely disinterested.  The Red Cross did conduct one trial of MMS solution in the treatment of malaria which was documented on video. However, the Red Cross subsequently denied being involved in the test.  (You can see the video below.)

Jim Humble subsequently went on to found the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing, a Church which has very simple precepts (described in the link below) which basically amount to Church members undertaking to learn how to use MMS as part of a “healing sacrament” and to help each other and other people who are in need of assistance.

The Genesis II church is in no way exclusive and welcomes members who belong to other religious groups.  (Members of Genesis II are in no way prohibited from continuing to belong to any other religion.)

As the MMSnews.is website recounts, a recent Genesis II church service in the UK was disrupted by agents from the UK government agency Trading Standards.  You can read the full story at the link below:

Editor’s note: In addition to malaria, MMS has been used in the treatment of other health problems including autism.  This latter use for MMS is explored in issue 17 of The NZ Journal of Natural Medicine which features a review of Kerri Rivera’s book Healing the Symptoms Known as Autism.

Issue 17 of The NZ Journal of Natural Medicine may be purchased from this link https://naturalmedicine.net.nz/product/the-new-zealand-journal-of-natural-medicine-issue-17/   (print edition) or this link https://naturalmedicine.net.nz/product/the-new-zealand-journal-of-natural-medicine-issue-17-ebook/   (ebook).

NB:  Please note that chlorine dioxide is an oxidising agent and misuse of solutions containing chlorine dioxide could be harmful.  Both chlorine dioxide solutions and the sodium chlorite solution and acid solutions mixed together to create chlorine dioxide should be kept out of reach of children.

It is recommended that anyone who is interested in using chlorine dioxide educate themselves about this option and seek the advice of a health professional about the suitability of the treatment for their situation.
