Introducing Issue 53 of The NZ Journal of Natural Medicine
“Root Canals : The Cancer Connection” is our cover story for issue 53 because many people (including some dental health professionals) are not aware of the potential risks of this procedure. These risks include cancer.
This issue also features an article on lumbrokinase, an powerful enzyme that is available as a supplement and can benefit cardiovascular health as well as generally reduce inflammation.
Viral illnesses have been in the spotlight for some time largely thanks to the emergence of Covid-19, and the overkill response by the “health authorities” of many governments that led a depletion of trust in medical advice generally.
Parenthetically, another important article in issue 53, “What is a Living Thing” tackles the “virus versus no virus” debate currently consuming a lot of time for many people.
Not a day goes by, it seems, that there isn’t some news about how some industrial chemical that has been created over the past few decades has been found to be toxic. Detoxification is a must these days and issue 53 includes a great article about the role that the lymphatic system plays in detoxing our bodies.
It’s widely acknowledged that children’s mental and physical health suffered as a result of plandemic policies that saw communities locked down and children prevented from enjoying normal activities like attending preschool or school, or participating in other group activities such as sports, music, dance – or even playing at a local playground. This has had serious negative impacts on children’s and teenagers’ mental and physical health. The reduction in opportunities to simply enjoy playing outdoors with other children and/or enjoy opportunities to develop fitness, coordination musical, linguistic and social skills through structured activities like sports has also contributed to many otherwise intelligent children experiencing academic difficulties.
This issue includes a review of the book Sensory Processing Solutions: Drug Free Therapies to Realize Your Child’s Potential written by an experienced Physical Therapist (the US equivalent of a physiotherapist). In this book, author Sally Fryer Dietz explains that developmental delays or diagnoses such as ADHD or autism spectrum disorder may indicate that a child may have a sensory processing disorder. She lists the “red flag” signs parents should be aware of and describes therapies that can improve the processing of information through vision, hearing, touch, taste and smell as well as the vestibular, proprioceptive and interoceptive systems. (The vestibular, proprioceptive and interoceptive systems are involved with processing information from the inner ear (vestibular) and feedback from muscles, ligaments and joints (proprioceptive) and organs (interoceptive).)
All this and much more in Issue 53 of The NZ Journal of Natural Medicine.
Wishing you the best of health!
– Katherine Smith and Jonathan Eisen, Editors
